The Garden

I have been having some technical difficulties lately with getting pictures for a few posts I have started. I will spare you the details. Instead I will post about our garden, because I have pictures of it that I took a few weeks ago....

These two top pics are of the squash and cucumber plants. This pic was taken a few weeks ago so now they are about five times this size and growing all over the play fort.

Here's the main garden it has many things growing in it. For example: three different kinds of tomatoes, onions, okra, potatoes, strawberries, peach tree, peppers, jalapenos, eggplant, lots of sunflowers and probably something else that I am forgetting. Matt gardens all year round so things are always changing. I literally use stuff form the garden in my cooking all year!

To the right are the okra plants (two different kinds) they are now taller than me. Its like a jungle in there now, Matt really knows how to use the space he has. In other words he packs it in.

Getting some tomatoes.

Lets not forget the grape vines. You can't see them from this far away but believe me there are tons! Matt put a few in paper bags to see if that would help stop the birds from eating them.

Please note: I don't have much to do with the garden, besides cooking what comes out of it, Matt and Ruby are the main gardeners. In fact if you what the specific names of the varieties of plants we have you will have to talk to one of them. Seriously Ruby knows all the names, she is awesome in the garden. She takes after her dad, who takes after his dad, who takes after his dad. See how nicely that works? :)

Oooooh, a garden! I want one. Matt doesn't think I would take care of it, though, and he doesn't want to have to take care of it either. I need some pointers from your Matt. YUMMY!

Oh.I.am.so.jealous! Will you (or rather Matt) teach us how to garden when we get moved into our house that actually has a backyard?

Ditto what Ann said. We loved the produce Matt shared with us. I look forward to having my own yard with a garden spot someday...

Cecily, It's grown so much! When Sam gets home I'll send him over to Matt to get some help. I love having a garden, but I'm not very good with one here in AZ.

I am so impressed!! How cool to have all that fresh produce. Our garden didn't do so well this summer. Obviously, Matt could teach us a thing or two.
